As we move further into spring and leave winter behind, the temperature is slowly warming up, and with the vaccination programme going well, there’s a chance that this summer will be freer than last year. You’ve probably been planning what you intend on wearing for months. There’s always room for more ideas, especially when it comes to looking your best now and deep into summer.

Neutrals All the Way

It doesn’t matter whether you’re aiming to wear a dress or a pair of high-waisted shorts with a tank top, if you instantly want to feel summery, consider the all-neutral look. We’re talking whites, beiges, creams, nudes, and everything in between. While on less bright days, these colours would look drab and unappealing, when the sun’s out, they cool, chic and feminine.

Slinky Slip Dress

True, this is a great style to rock at any time of the year, but having a sexy slip dress to, well, slip into is almost essential for those days when you’re looking to wear as little as possible, without being too immodest.

Wide Leg Pants and a Colourful Silk Scarf

Okay, so this is for the more daring to try in the heart of summer when the temperatures have hit their highest highs. If you’re feeling brave, you could try something simple to wear as little as possible, while providing enough coverage for your chest, by taking a nice colourful scarf (silk all the way) and wrapping it around your chest a la bandeau. Although you could wear it with bikini bottoms if you were by the pool, for summery days in town, go for linen pants with wide legs or cute and comfortable cut-offs.

Bright Red

This is the exact opposite to those neutrals we spoke about, but sometimes you have to go bold during summer. We’re talking bright red (though yellows and oranges would look equally eye-catching).

Tank Top and Midi

There’s a simple coolness to this style – a tank top tucked into a flowy and light midi skirt. It’s also versatile because depending on how you match, mix, and accessorise it, it will look great during the day and through the night.

Dungaree Overalls and Puffy-Sleeved Top

Remember that, while we’re talking about summer, we’re also talking specifically about British summer. Which is known to be changeable. You definitely need something great to wear on those cooler days. Something like a nice pair of denim overall dungarees with a flowery-patterned, puffy-sleeved top.

Little Black Dress

We know what you’re thinking, we’ve made a misprint because it’s little white dresses that are for summertime. However, we think there’s something bold, whether you opt for a puffy-sleeved number on top as above or a slip-style dress with your favourite footwear and some well-chosen jewellery.

Keep it Classic

Perhaps you’re a traditionalist. Then it’s a good idea to get some nice biker shorts or denim cut-offs and pair either with a simple white t-shirt and trendy blazer finished off with a nice strappy pair of sandals.

Bright Plaid Trousers

If ever was a time you can rock those more colourful clothes, it was summer. Try floral-print bottoms or even a bright rainbow plaid legging with a simple cardigan.

Flowy, Light and Colourful Dresses

To complete our list of ideas, we’ve opted for a bona fide classic – the flowy and lightweight dress. It has to be bright though.
