The summer of 2021, at least the second half of it, is promising to be a big moment, as most of the restrictions and moves towards normality will be in force by then (hopefully). With that in mind, you may be looking at your summer wardrobe and concerned that it does not have quite the look or feel that will really make a splash and turn heads when we have more freedom. Don’t despair, as we have put together some tips to help you really enhance your summer swag.

Keep Big and Heavy Accessories To a Bare Minimum

While it’s fine to rock those larger-than-life-itself statement jewelry pieces and accessories such as precious stone-encrusted necklaces and chunky stacked bangles and bracelets during winter, summer is the time for those to be placed back in the box for later in the year.

To really make a scene, you need to think small rather than big and opt for small hoop earrings or even stud earrings and look to cotton or very dainty and delicate metallic bracelets instead of the hunk-of-gold bangles you’ve been rocking in the colder months. If your decolletage feels naked without some kind of necklace, stick to a shorter chain or even a choker as chains can be terrible heat traps.

Sandals Not Sneakers

Okay, this is slightly controversial as there are plenty of blog posts and experts out there that would suggest you wear the big strappy heels or those funky sneakers. However, when the temperature rises, you have the golden opportunity to give your legs and feet a bit of a break, especially if you have sexy toes to show off. So choose sandals (note we said sandals and not flip-flops), instead of the above. You can still get the sex appeal offered by straps with sandals and those with leather used throughout their design will look great whatever the situation, time of day, or occasion.

Flowy and Loose-Fitting Rather Than Fitted and Restricting

Even here in the UK, it can be stifling hot and humid. That is why we recommend ditching the fitted garments whenever possible and sticking to lightweight, flowy, and loose-fitted clothing instead. As well as offering greater breathability, there is less fabric touching and clinging to your skin, which can be a welcome relief. Especially if you sweat a lot.

While we are not suggesting you wear as little as possible, we are suggesting you make sensible decisions about clothing designs and the fabrics used to make them.

Succumb to Lighter Shades

As well as providing you with welcome relief from the heat of the sun by reflecting the rays, lighter tones and shades really help to bring out that summertime vibe you’ve been longing for all winter and spring. They just emanate that blissful happiness and light and airy feel we associate with summer better than the darker and more subdued shades associated with the darker points of the year.

Simple Isn’t Always Better

In summer, there is the temptation to dispense with all and any busy patterns and prints and opt instead for simple colors. However, that should not stop you from adding some geometric patterned or floral designed garments, as these will look great in summer.
